Tim Marcer
Director
Tim joined The Mortgage Company in June 2000 working out of the Robert Ellis Estate Agency office in Long Eaton. Tim has worked in the Financial Services industry since 1996 and is fully FPC and CeMAP qualified and has a wealth of experience in both the Mortgage and Insurance markets. Tim is married with a daughter and lives in Derbyshire, in his spare time he enjoys playing golf and supporting his favourite football team.
James Roberts
Mortgage and insurance Consultant
James joined The Mortgage Company in January 2012 and has over 30 years financial services experience. Starting out with the Halifax dealing with queries from clients with existing mortgages, he became a mortgage arrears counsellor, and then a mortgage underwriter. After almost 8 years on the administrative side of mortgages, he became fully CeMAP qualified in 2000 and has helped clients since then in arranging their mortgages. He says that the satisfaction of knowing he has helped someone to buy a house is the reason he loves the job he does. James knows the local area well, having lived in Bramcote when he was younger and attended Bramcote Hills Comprehensive School. He has an adult daughter and step-daughter, and lives on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border. In his spare time James will either be out running, watching sport, or enjoying time away in the Cotswolds.
Martin Dennis
Mortgage and insurance Consultant
Martin joined The Mortgage Company in February 2014. He first began work for the CIS Financial Company, where he gained 13 years of hands on knowledge and experience of this industry. Martin is already proving to be a asset to the company working out of the Robert Ellis Agency in Long Eaton. Martin has local knowledge of the area and lives in the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire boarder with his wife and two children. He is a dedicated family man and in his spare time likes to go running.
Tom Appleyard
Mortgage and insurance Consultant
Tom joined the mortgage company in 2017. After studying Pharmaceutical Sciences at university and then venturing into the financial world, firstly in stocks and currency trading he then moved into the property sector working as a sales negotiator within a large corporate estate agency whilst becoming a fully CeMAP qualified adviser and not looking back ever since, going the extra mile for his customers and never giving up on getting them into their dream homes.
Tom has always lived locally and is a huge sports fan be it football, cricket, tennis or anything else he can get stuck in to. In his spare time you’ll always find him with an instrument by his side after teaching himself the guitar, piano and anything else he can get his hands on.
Sally Bates
Mortgage and insurance Consultant
Sally joined The Mortgage Company in May 2019 she started her life as a Trainee Mortgage Adviser in 2001. Since then has helped clients for over 18 years in helping them move into their dream home and looking after them for the life of their mortgage. Sally knows the local area well and lives in the Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire borders with her husband and son. In her spare time she enjoys socialising with her family and friends.
Steve Harman
Mortgage and insurance Consultant
Steve joined The Mortgage Company in 2019 and is based in the Robert Ellis Agency, Long Eaton. He has been involved in property and financial services since 1999 and completed his CeMAP qualifications in 2002. He is passionate about getting a great deal for his clients and delivering outstanding customer service. He grew up in the Belper area and now lives in Borrowash. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, badminton, reading and meals out.
Gill Fuller
Mortgage and Insurance Consultant
Gill joined The Mortgage Company in February 2022 and is based in the Robert Ellis Estate Agents Arnold office and has lived in Arnold with her husband and daughter for over 15 years, so knows the area well. She has over 10 years experience in the financial services and estate agency business. Gill is passionate about finding the most suitable deal for her customers and delivering excellent customer service. In her spare time, Gill enjoys going to her local fitness group, seeing live music and spending time with her family.
Amanda Smith

Amanda joined The Mortgage Company in August 2024 as Mortgage & Protection Consultant, working in the mortgage industry for over 10 years she brings a wealth knowledge and experience, which will benefit her clients greatly. Amanda has a passion to provide her clients with the best possible outcomes, whilst giving the best customer service in an ethical, transparent, honest manor. In her spare time, she likes walking, going to the gym and spending time with her family.

Tara began her career at the Robert Ellis Estate Agency office in Ilkeston in 1989 as office junior and gained a vast amount of experience in the property market, in 1996 she joined the Long Eaton office as sales negotiator making sure property sales went through smoothly and successfully. In 2005, having gained a wealth of knowledge in this area Tara was offered a position with The Mortgage Company as Administrator / Business Developer and has worked extremely hard to bring the business forward, she now leads a very successful team. Tara lives in the West of Nottingham with her partner and daughter and in her spare time is a very talented Golfer.

Until recently when I joined The Mortgage Company I had worked in the financial Industry for the same company for 23 years, I became fully CeMAP qualified in 2013.
I have 2 children and 2 grandchildren, I enjoy spending time with the family in my spare time or socialising with friends.

Jane joined the mortgage company in 2018 as an administrator, she has previously worked as an estate agent and is a trained barber/hairdresser, she is also a qualified teacher in this field.
In her spare time Jane likes to go on long dog walks with her dog and also enjoys sailing with her partner on their boat.
Beth Towlson

Beth joined the mortgage company in 2019 as an administrator, she previously worked as an Estate agent where she gained the vast majority of her knowledge.
In her spare time she likes to go to the gym and socialise with friends.
